I took ELA in the first semester this year. We did 3 book studies as the main chunck of the course.
The books were, in order, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespear, and Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese.
We did some minor short stories in between, but overall, it was just a focus on those 3 books.

With To Kill A Mockingbird, we did many small quizzes about the book for most of our mark, and the quizzes are including but not limited to:
setting,
characters,
location,
punctuation,
and pronunciation.
We also had a final at the end of the course, and watched the movie.

With Romeo & Juliet, we read the book and watched the movie. The biggest assignments with this book was mainly some comperhension questions, as many people have a hard time reading Shakespear. We also used the No Fear Shakespear version to hwlp us understand better.

With Indian Horse, we read the book, and had a few mini assignments, but nothing else other than that, as we ran out of time.
